CHILD & FAMILY ADVOCACY CENTER

CFAC

The Child & Family Advocacy Center (CFAC) is a safe place for children in Elkhart County who may have experienced abuse or neglect. When police or the Department of Child Services (DCS) believe a child may be in danger, the child is brought to CFAC by a safe adult. Instead of telling their story repeatedly to different people, the child talks once with a specially trained interviewer in a child-friendly setting. This process is called a forensic interview, and it helps reduce trauma while making sure the child’s voice is heard. Other professionals like law enforcement, watch the interview live from another room, so the child doesn’t have to face multiple interviews. Everything at CFAC, from the is designed to help children feel comfortable and protected.

CFAC is proud to be accredited by the National Children’s Alliance, meeting the highest standards of care for children and families
