CAPS & Maple City achieve highest level of primary care and mental health accreditation

In our commitment to providing quality comprehensive services to children, families, and community members, we are pleased to announce that CAPS & Maple City has obtained Joint Commission Accreditation for our clinical services. We are now fully Joint Commission accredited in

Ambulatory Health Care, Behavioral Health and Human Services, as well as having the Patient Centered Medical Home Certificate.

 While hospitals and most inpatient services are required to go through Joint Commission accreditation, CAPS & Maple City is one of only three outpatient Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) in Indiana voluntarily seeking this standard of quality, safety, and excellence to ensure the highest level of care for every patient we serve.

The Joint Commission is a nationally recognized, independent organization that evaluates health care providers for quality, safety, and consistency. Accreditation is voluntary for FQHC’s like CAPS & Maple City, and reflects a commitment to meeting rigorous standards across patient care, infection prevention, medication management, emergency preparedness, staff qualifications, leadership, and continuous improvement.

To earn this accreditation, CAPS & Maple City underwent an extensive, multi-year review of its policies, facilities, clinical records, staff practices, and quality systems. Joint Commission surveyors visited the organization, observed care, interviewed staff, leaders, and patients, reviewed patient experiences, and evaluated whether safety standards were consistently followed across services and locations. Joint Commission accreditation provides a framework to systemically review workflows, policies, and procedures across all areas of operation with special focus on and attention to providing safe, high quality patient care. From the beginning to end, this was missionally aligned with CAPS & Maple City as an organization and provides further improvement to the structure as we dedicate time to improving workflows, processes, protocols and policies across all levels of the organization.

Achieving Joint Commission accreditation provides patients, donors, and community partners with added confidence in the quality of our care.
