A New Chapter for Children and Families

Families rarely experience challenges in isolation. A child's safety, a family's health needs, financial stress, barriers to access, and family stability are all connected. By bringing prevention, family support and education alongside primary, dental, and behavioral health care into full integration, CAPS & Maple City is building a more coordinated and compassionate system of care in our community. Children and families thrive when they are safe, healthy, supported, and treated with dignity.

This coordinated model of care is both practical and deeply personal. When a child and family comes to our doors after possible abuse or trauma, they are often facing one of the hardest moments of their lives. In that moment, every additional barrier matters. Having to travel to another city or navigate another system for medical care, behavioral health support, or follow-up services can add stress to an already overwhelming experience.
As CAPS & Maple City, we are building a system where children and families can receive compassionate, trauma-informed care in one connected environment. A child may be able to receive a forensic interview, a medical evaluation, and connection to mental health support through the same coordinated team. A parent may be connected to health care, behavioral health, parenting support, or other resources without having to navigate multiple systems alone.
Lizzy Diaz, SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) Coordinator and a SANE Nurse, has shared “How we are meeting people where they are — how we choose to see them not just as a patient, but as a person who deserves dignity and respect, matters. We become not just a part of their medical journey, but a part of their healing.”

That is the heart of our work: seeing the whole person and the whole family. The challenges families face are often connected, and the support available to them should be connected too. By providing a suite of both clinical and community service programming, CAPS & Maple City can help close gaps, strengthen protective factors, and
support families earlier and more holistically.
Our vision remains clear: to help build a community where children are safer, families are stronger, and health and well-being are within reach. With the support of donors, volunteers, partners, and neighbors, CAPS & Maple City is creating a healthier, safer community where children and families can thrive.
